The Governor, Speaker of the House and several delegates met today in front of the Coal Miner Memorial for a signing ceremony regarding House Bill 4351, which will allow miners to submit anonymous tips about safety issues, require that ventilation plans be submitted, and allow families to be part of the interview process should another mining disaster occur among other things.
The bill, which was inspired by the Upper Big Branch Mine Disaster that took the lives of 29 miners, aims to regulate mine safety, hopefully preventing such disasters from occurring again.
