House Creates Select Committee on Federal Stimulus

The House adopted House Resolution 8 which will create a Select Committee on Stimulus Utilization. Members will be appointed by The Speaker of the House and will review, evaluate and recommend action to the Speaker relating to all issues relevant to any stimulus legislation passed into law by the federal government.

The House also received committee reports and introduced bills such as HB 2487 which would allow the Supreme Court of Appeals to establish a uniform bail schedule, HB 2494 which would give local authorities the authority to decrease the speed limit on streets and highways where school buses travel in its jurisdiction and HB 2533 which updates the law governing the practice of veterinary medicine.

HB 2305 and House Bill 2306 were read a second time and advanced to third reading.
