The Legislature met briefly during the second day of the 2016 Extraordinary Session.
The Senate moved Senate Bill 1005 to second reading, referring it to the Finance committee. Members of the House of Delegates made remarks regarding the state budget woes. The House did not read any bills or introduce new bills.
The House will reconvene at 11 a.m. tomorrow. The Senate will reconvene at 3:30 p.m. today.
Senate Finance meets today at 1 p.m. in 451M.
House Finance meets today at 3 p.m. in 460M.
UPDATE:
Senate Bill 1005,which would increase the tax rate on cigarettes and tobacco products, was read a first time again this evening after the Senate Finannce Committee made changes to the bill earlier today. Senate Bill 1002, which would expire funds from various accounts to unappropriated balance in State Fund, General Revenue, was also read a first time.
The Senate has adjourned until tomorrow at 11:30 a.m.
