Today, the Legislature convened for Day 2 of the First Special Session of 2022. The Senate convened at 9 a.m. and recessed immediately, waiting for the bills to be passed by the House. The House convened at 9 a.m.
After a lengthy discussion, Senate Bill 1001, The West Virginia Industrial Advancement Act passed 91 to 2. The bill provides tax credits to qualifying labor-intensive heavy industrial manufactures. The bill specifies the transfer of the credit to successors in business and retention of credit to change in form of doing business.
Senate Bills 1002 through 1006 were also passed, all supplemental appropriations.
Senate Bill 1002 moves federal funds from Treasury to the Coronavirus State Fiscal Recovery Fund.
Senate Bill 1006 moves money from the General Revenue State Fund to the Department of Economic Development.
The House is in recess until 4 p.m.
The Senate reconvene at 11:45 a.m. and concurred to complete Senate Bills 1004 and 1005.
The Senate also confirmed the Governor’s Executive Nominations.
