Crossover Day Moves Senate Bill Regulating Campaign Contributions to The House

Three bills completed legislation during the Senate’s floor session today. Senate Bills 435 and 477, as well as House Bill 2726 completed following the Senate concurring in House amendments and passing the bills. Senate Bill 435 would create the West Virginia Sheriffs’ Bureau of Professional Standards, and Senate Bill 477 would supplement, amend, decrease, and increase appropriation from State Road Fund to the Department of Highways.  House Bill 2726 would clarify choice of laws issues in product’s liability actions.
 
The Senate also passed twelve bills, the floor session. Senate Bills 385541, and 585 were deferred until the foot of 1st reading.
 
During the third reading of Senate Bill 453, President Bill Cole (R- Mercer), under Senate Rule 43, was excused from voting. This called for Senator Donna Boley (R- Pleasants), the president pro tempore, to preside over the Senate. 
 
House Bill 2879, Relating to certain limitations on amount of state funds on deposit in any depository, was advanced from second reading to third.
 
Four bills on first reading were considered having been read and were advanced to second reading.
 
The Senate is in recess until 5 p.m.

UPDATE: 
 
The Senate passed Senate Bills 541 and 585 and tabled SB 385. SB 541 relates to regulation and control of elections. SB 585 relates to regulation of transportation network and taxicab companies. Before the passage of Senate Bill 585, the provisions of the tabled SB 385 were amended into SB 585.
 
The Senate is adjounred until 11 a.m. tomorrow.
