The Senate met briefly today at 11 a.m. and gave a warm welcome to Senator Sue Cline with a standing ovation.
Senate Resolution 8 was adopted, naming January 25th, 2016 Home School Day in the West Virginia Legislature. The George Washington High School girls volleyball team was also recognized with the adoption of Senate Resolution 9 for their 65-1-1 season record and AAA State Championship title.
Senate Bill 13, which increases penalties for overtaking and passing stopped school buses, and Senate Bill 32, relating to the withdrawal of candidates for office and filling vacancies, were advanced to the third reading and will be voted on tomorrow morning.
There were 13 new Senate bills introduced, including Senate Bill 383, which promotes the efficient extraction of oil and gas resources.
