Today the Senate held a session at 11 a.m. and 2 p.m. with 29 bills on third reading.
Senate Bills 25, 104, 337, 454, 534, 539, 555, 563, 599, 601, 602, 622, 625, 631, 643, 644, 647, 657, 669, 677, 678, 686, 701, 702, 703 and 705 were passed and sent to the House of Delegates for further consideration. Senate Bill 104 classifies Marshall University’s Forensic Science Center as a criminal justice agency. Senate Bill 555 would provide a 3-cent tax increase on the sale of fuel when the price per gallon is less than $2.00.
House Bill 4012, the West Virginia Religious Freedom Restoration Act, was rejected in the Senate with a 7-27 Y/N vote. Senate Bill 704, which regards the dispatching of a towing service for emergency towing of vehicles, was also rejected with a 15-19 Y/N vote.
The Judiciary Committee will meet tonight at 5:50 p.m.
The Committee on Pensions will meet tomorrow at 9:30 a.m. in 208W, followed by the Committee on Natural Resources at 10 a.m., prior to session.
