Legislature Adjourns Sine Die

The West Virginia House of Delegates and Senate convened for the Extended Budget session before adjourning Sine Die.

Before adjourned, the Legislature passed Senate Bill 601 – Relating to exception from jurisdiction of PSC for materials recovery facilities or mixed waste processing facilitie. The bill was vetoed by the Governor citing technical errors. Both the House and Senate repassed the bill, to complete legislation.

Senators and Delegates will leave town although Senate Bill 269 – the Budget Bill – was not addressed. Lawmakers will come back for a special session to address the budget shortfall. Gov. Earl Ray Tomblin issued a statement following new revenue estimates for Fiscal Year 2017, calling on more time to work out the issues.

Tomblin said because of newly projected budget shortfall of $92.4 million, lawmakers will likely reconvene next month.
