Senate Marks Today As “Women’s Day,” This Month As “American Red Cross Month”


The Senate convened this morning for the 22nd day of the 2013 Regular Session.

Senate Bill 101, which would include nursing homes and their health care providers in the Medical Professional Liability Act, was passed.

Senate Bill 139, which would regulate certain purchases of precious gems and metals, and Senate Bill 435, which would continue the Municipal Home Rule Pilot Program, were read for the first time. In addition to these two bills, 16 bills were introduced.

The Senate also adopted Senate Resolution 25, making March 6, 2013 “Women’s Day,” and Senate Resolution 26, making this month “American Red Cross Month.” Representatives from each group were on hand to accept their respective resolutions.

The Senate will reconvene tomorrow at 11am.
