Senate Reconsiders House Bill Vetoed by the Governor

The Senate convened today at 11 a.m.

Two House bills were advanced from committee and were read for the first time today.  Those bills are 4235 and 4362House Bill 4235 relates to the publication requirements of the administration of estates.  House Bill 4362 establishes a felony offense of strangulation.  Both bills were advanced to second reading.

House Bill 4146 was read for the first time and advanced to second reading.  The bill relates to providing insurance cover abuse-deterrent opioid analgesic drugs.

House Bill 4007 came before the Senate again today.  Both the Senate and the House originally passed the bill.  Governor Tomblin vetoed the bill.  The House received the bill from the Governor’s office and made an amendment to meet the objectives of the Governor.  The House passed the bill and sent it to the Senate.  The Senate reviewed the amendment today and concurred.  The Senate voted and passed the bill again.  The bill relates generally to appointment of attorneys to assist the Attorney General.

There were not any bills on second or third reading today.
